Competition vs hardstyle kettlebells

The differences in material, size, handle and intended use.

Size

Competition kettlebells are uniform: an 8 kg and a 32 kg have the same external dimensions. Hardstyle kettlebells scale with weight — heavier means physically bigger.

Material & handle

Competition bells are steel with a thinner ~33 mm handle for one clean grip. Hardstyle bells are cast iron with a wider handle that suits two-hand swings.

Which should you buy?

  • Choose competition if you train kettlebell sport or want identical feel across weights.
  • Choose hardstyle for general strength, conditioning and value.
